Group Retail Operations Manager

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Retail Group Operations Manager to join one of Australia’s most unique and purpose-driven retail organisations based in Darwin.

Reporting directly to the GM Retail, this role will oversee a network of Area Managers across NT & QLD with a strong focus on leadership development, operational performance, commercial outcomes and continuous improvement across a large multi-site retail portfolio.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role with genuine long-term growth potential. The previous leader in this position has recently been promoted internally into the GM Retail role.

About the Role

This is a high-impact leadership role where no two days look the same.
You’ll work closely with Area Managers and operational teams to drive:
  • Commercial performance and operational consistency
  • Leadership coaching and team development
  • Budgeting, forecasting and P&L performance
  • Process improvement and operational efficiencies
  • Community and stakeholder engagement
  • Workforce planning and succession development
  • Retail standards and compliance across multiple sites
The role is based in Darwin and includes regular travel to remote communities across the Northern Territory and Queensland.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading and coaching a team of Area Managers
  • Supporting operational strategy alongside the GM Retail
  • Driving sales, cost control and overall store performance
  • Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiencies
  • Supporting large-scale retail operations across diverse locations
  • Building strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Developing leadership capability across the retail network
  • Supporting budgeting and financial planning processes
  • Driving a positive and people-focused leadership culture
What You’ll Bring
  • Senior multi-site retail leadership experience
  • Strong supermarket, grocery or large-format retail operations background
  • Experience leading leaders across dispersed locations
  • High commercial and financial acumen
  • Strong budgeting, reporting and operational analysis capability
  • A hands-on and adaptable leadership style
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to balance accountability with empathy and people leadership
  • A passion for operational improvement and team development
