Join a proudly NZ-owned rural retailer with deep roots in the farming community. Supplying timber, fencing, sheds, and outdoor products built for real Kiwi conditions, they're known for reliable stock, practical solutions, and genuine service.
For four decades they've grown alongside the farmers, lifestyle block owners, builders, and tradies of North Otago — and the Oamaru branch is the heart of that community presence. With the long-serving Branch Manager stepping away after 20 years in the business, this is a rare chance to take your first step into branch leadership with a settled team and a customer base that already trusts the brand.
The Benefits:
- Work vehicle provided
- Monday-Friday roster with occasional Saturday
- Lead a small, capable, down-to-earth team that knows the ropes
- Hands-on, physical work — you're in the yard, not behind a desk
- Autonomy, variety, and a real seat at the table in the Oamaru community
- Inherit a loyal customer base with decades of trust already in place
- Lead and motivate a small, settled team — leading from the front, not the office
- Get stuck in physically: loading orders, moving stock, helping with deliveries, organising the yard
- Build on and grow relationships with farmers, lifestyle block owners, builders, and rural customers
- Manage stock, safety, and yard presentation
- Support customers with practical advice and hands-on product knowledge
- Oversee all store sales and operational targets
- Visit properties to understand customer needs and projects
- Set the standard by doing the work alongside your team
- Proven exp as a Manager (Branch, 2IC or Supervisor)
- Rural background or strong interest: farming, agriculture, building materials, fencing, trades, timber
- Physically capable and happy in a hands-on, outdoors environment — you enjoy being on the tools, not just managing them
- Confident talking to a wide range of people — from third-generation farmers to weekend DIYers
- Organised, practical, and solutions-focused
- Hungry to grow into your first proper leadership role and put your own stamp on a branch
- Full NZ Working Rights
Perfect for someone ready to progress in their career, but doesn't want to lose the hands-on, in-the-yard work they actually enjoy. You're not stepping into a corporate desk job. You're stepping into a small, settled branch where the team is loyal, the customers already trust the brand, the work is physical and varied, and the business will back you to lead in your own way.
