Abhishek brings a broad mix of retail and commercial experience to Retailworld, with a background across buying, category management, sales and account management in both New Zealand and overseas markets.
His New Zealand retail experience includes working with a national large-format retailer and, most recently, a nationwide retail cooperative. Having worked closely with stores, suppliers, brands and internal teams, he understands the realities of retail from the inside and the importance of having the right people in the right roles.
Earlier in his career, Abhishek also spent time in account management, building client relationships, understanding what businesses needed and working with them to deliver strong commercial outcomes. That experience has naturally carried through into recruitment, where he enjoys getting to know both candidates and clients properly rather than treating every conversation as a transaction.
Having spent most of his career on the industry side, Abhishek knows what good retail talent looks like and understands the pressures and expectations that come with working in the sector. He enjoys having genuine conversations, understanding what people are looking for and helping connect them with opportunities that make sense.
Based in Auckland, Abhishek enjoys the diversity of the local retail market and the relationships that come with working in a close-knit industry.
Outside of work, he loves spending time with his daughter and is a self-confessed armchair psephologist, which is really just a fancy way of saying he spends far too much time following elections, polls and political trends.
