Recognising & Celebrating The Best!

Employers should be asking, why would someone want to work for my brand? And, how do I retain my current workforce? Employment branding is giving brands a competitive advantage, placing stand out businesses as those with attractive employment propositions.

Retailworld launched Retail Employer of the Year in 2010 to recognise businesses that embrace, promote and have an outstanding employment brand. It’s a people’s choice award that encourages past or present staff as well as the general public and customers to vote for the company that they think stands out from the rest.

Retail Employer of the Year has continued to raise the awareness of careers in retail, celebrating employment branding, and recognising the brands that do it well. We have seen significant growth in the participation and diversity of businesses involved, and the increased commitment from businesses to employment branding, raising the standard for our industry.

Three Retail Employer of the year Finalists are announced per category. Categories are based on full-time equivalent staff numbers across the business including shopfront and support office roles. One of the three Finalists per category is announced as the Winner of Retail Employer of the Year.

Australian Large category finalists (1000+ FTE) included; Bardot, Bras N Things, and Lowes, with Lowes taking out the winning title for a third consecutive year! Blue Illusion, Footlocker, and Krispy Kreme were the finalists for the medium category (101 - 1000 FTE), won by Blue Illusion. This year’s small category Winner (less than 100 FTE) was Hermes, while Cambridge Clothing and Yves Saint Laurent were recognised as Finalists.

New Zealand Finalists and Winners were announced and celebrated at the annual Retail Employer of the Year Awards Night - held this year at Ponsonby Central’s Sapphire Room with Guest Speaker Juanita Neville - Te Rito.

Retailworld congratulates all participating brands, finalists and winners of 2020 Retail Employer of the Year. With record numbers of retail brands participating, this reflects a positive move by the industry to attract and retain the best talent.
